01Overview
This Colombian account centres on the 2013 re-examination of type material. It documents selected microscopic features and the collection provenance, while chemical evidence and broader ecology remain unresearched. [ramirez-cruz-2013-types]

- Agent source-checked — Codex (agent), 2026-09-12
Name and acceptance checked in the Kew Colombian Fungi record and 2013 type revision. Family discrepancy explicitly resolved using the 2026 primary treatment. Direct Index Fungorum retrieval and original protologue remain incomplete; its identifier is not populated from an uninspected name record.

Macroscopic characters
This section has not yet been researched for this account.
Microscopic characters
The examined material has reported spores of 5.6–7.2(8.0) × 4.0–4.8 × 3.2–4.4 µm. The revision records pileocystidia embedded in the ixocutis, a ramose subhymenium and setaceous hyphae in the basal mycelium. These are selected observations from the specimen labelled an isotype in the paper. [ramirez-cruz-2013-types]
04Distribution and ecology
The revision lists G. Guzmán 35331 (XAL, isotype), collected on 24 September 2002 at Pacurita, southeast of Quibdó in Chocó, Colombia. This locality is specimen provenance; it does not delimit the species’ range. [ramirez-cruz-2013-types]

05Chemistry
Measurements belong to studies, specimens and methods. A single concentration cannot stand in for a species.
| Study / year | Material | Method | Record |
|---|---|---|---|
| No verified assay records entered. This does not establish that no published assays exist. | |||
Fields retained in each future assay record
Study, publication year, specimen, material, sample size, provenance, analytical method, preparation, storage, psilocybin, psilocin, baeocystin, norbaeocystin, aeruginascin, units, qualifiers and methodological notes. No concentrations have been invented for this prototype.
Modern quantitative assays
Modern analytical studies have not yet been systematically searched and checked for this account.
Evidence assessment
Chemical literature has not yet been reviewed for this account. No assay values are extracted; this does not establish the presence or absence of any compound.
Assessments depend on material, preparation, storage, sampling and analytical methods. Measurements are literature records, not predictions of effects.

07History
The name is attributed to Guzmán, M. Torres and Ramírez-Guillén, published in International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms 6(1):86 (2004). The 2013 type revision adds microscopic observations. The original description has not been inspected for this account. [colfungi-370729-2026] [ramirez-cruz-2013-types]
A place for the historical record
This account records the nomenclatural history checked so far. Broader historical research remains pending; interpretations must stay connected to their documentary sources.
08Conservation
This section has not yet been researched for this account.
- Assessment status
- Not yet researched
- Assessment authority / year
- Not verified / Not verified
Not researched by Psilocybia, not assessed by a conservation authority, and Least Concern are different states. None should be inferred from another.
09Images & specimens
Space is reserved for field photographs, herbarium specimens, microscopy and historical plates, with source and licence metadata.
Photographs are not presented as sufficient for mushroom identification.

Conflicting evidence
The database uses an older family placement than the 2026 phylogenomic treatment.
Follow Niskanen et al. (2026), which explicitly includes Psilocybe in Agrocybaceae. The database supports the name and acceptance, not the family adopted here. — Codex (agent), 2026-09-12
